The title track, based on Corb childhood memories of his grandpa cows with no eyes, starts off the album with his band signature, punchy swing. Saturated with family history, true stories, and nods to the old west, this record is filled with quintessential Corb Lund tracks. This album has been our most commercially successful, and really fanned the flames of our torrid and short lived affair with country radio and CMT. We cut it in Tennessee and it full of fiddles and country piano. Truck Got Stuck was a big moment for us and is still a live favourite. Hair In My Eyes introduced both Brady Valgardson on the drums and Grant Siemens playing guitar, both of whom have been long time band members. We still play a ton of these songs live as the core of our showsI dont focus as much on love songs as a lot of writers do, says Lund, And I find it more interesting to write tunes about whatever my
ain is involved with at any given time. Could be ranch stuff or card games or home renos or starting campfires or books about 1970s politics. It all finds its way into the cauldron.
