Fun House puts The Stooges’ original lineup into a stripped-down studio setting built around Ron Asheton’s distorted guitar, Dave Alexander’s bass, Scott Asheton’s drums, and Iggy Pop’s vocals. Producer Don Gallucci recorded the band in Los Angeles with an approach based on the band’s live performance rather than layered studio construction. This Rhino High Fidelity vinyl record edition is an Indie Exclusive limited pressing on 180g black vinyl.

“Down on the Street” opens with a blunt guitar riff and a repeating groove, while “Loose” moves faster and puts Iggy Pop’s vocal against Ron Asheton’s churning guitar. “T.V. Eye” drives on repeated shouts and a locked-in rhythm section, then “Dirt” stretches past seven minutes with a slower pace and extended guitar work. The title track brings saxophonist Steve Mackay into the band’s attack, adding a new instrumental voice, and “L.A. Blues” closes the album as a free-form breakdown rather than a conventional song.

Fun House documents the original Stooges lineup pushing further into proto-punk, garage rock, and hard rock. The seven-song program moves from compact riff-driven tracks into longer, less structured performances as the second side develops. This pressing was cut from the original analog master tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio and pressed at Optimal. New Iggy Pop liner notes are inside.
