As if these gems weren’t proof enough that this partnership was an inspired necessity in NIN’s late-era rebirth, they drop the Closer to God B-side ‘Memorabilia’ — a cover of the 1981 Soft Cell groover — out of nowhere, sending diehards into a frenzy and delivering another standout moment. This is not a novelty or a throwaway, and even though there’s technically no ‘new’ music, Nine Inch Noize goes beyond the idea of a ‘remix,’ carrying over three decades of material into the future with the help of an unlikely creative muse.

An absolute treat … It is expertly crafted, crackling with energy, and a front-to-back fantastic listen that injects new life into the decades-old tracks … Standouts ‘Heresy’ and ‘Came Back Haunted’ both depart from the original in a significant way, while on ‘Closer’ they bring a new level of menacing intensity to the NIN classic. As a fan of both artists, I’ve had a hard time turning this one off.
