Description

Acclaimed guitarist Julian Lage had long dreamed of recording a project with esteemed drummer Joey Baron and bassist Jorge Roeder. In March 2026, Lage brought the trio into the Village Vanguard for an engagement at the legendary club, and – after a week of exploring new music in front of enthusiastic audiences – Lage decided to head straight into the studio to document how the music had evolved. Recording at Reservoir Studios in Manhattan gave the trio a chance to experience the music in a new way and focus on the essence of the tunes. Produced by Joe Henry, The Reservoir Sessions presents a 6-song set of original compositions and standards, including “Love Is a Many Splendored Thing” and the Ellington/Strayhorn ballad, “The Star-Crossed Lovers.” Available on transparent orange 12” vinyl for Record Store Day Black Friday.
