The result is a lean, masterfully paced 11-song set that plays like a new Deftones benchmark. Private Music is the tenth studio album from Deftones and their first in five years, released August 22, 2025, via Reprise and Warner. Produced by Nick Raskulinecz (who previously worked with the band on Diamond Eyes and Koi No Yokan), the album features longtime touring bassist Fred Sablan stepping into the studio lineup following Sergio Vegas departure.

Led by the singles My Mind Is a Mountain and Milk of the Madonna, Private Music builds on the textured heaviness and melodic tension that have defined the bands evolution, while exploring new dynamics shaped by the longest gap between albums in their career. Chino Morenos vocals shift between whispers and roars, anchored by Stephen Carpenters layered guitars and the bands signature blend of atmosphere and intensity.

The album has received widespread acclaim, with a Metacritic score of 91 signaling one of the strongest critical receptions in the bands history. A late-career standout from one of heavy musics most consistently creative forces.
